When you order a jigsaw you can choose your own image, silhouette pieces and drop-outs. Depending on what the gift is for, you might select initials, a date, a message (including scripts), or objects of importance to yourself or the recipient.

The fun of doing a jigsaw puzzle is increased by the presence of special pieces called 'silhouette pieces' or 'whimsies'. These pieces are cut in the shape of recognisable objects at the whim of the cutter or the buyer. Many silhouettes that we use have an Australian association - kangaroos, surfing, Sydney’s opera house, but usually silhouettes are developed in response to requests. Examples includes dogs, Taj Mahal, scientific symbols, scripts and logos.
Drop-outs are shapes created by discarding wood from within the puzzle. They are particularly effective for lettering or simple logos. A mixture of silhouettes and drop-outs can be incorporated in the same puzzle.

Jigsaws can be cut from most images on paper (subject to copyright laws), including paintings, computer scanned images, and personal photographs (annual reports or other publications are often good sources of images for corporate puzzles).
